Carers Choices provide a regular sitting service for carers. Our service enables carers to take a break from their caring role. Things that we take for granted can be very difficult for carers - going shopping, attending to the garden, visiting family and friends.
A regular break can make all the difference to your caring role. We can provide breaks from 1 hour to a full day. Most of our carers have 4 hours a week on a regular basis and funding may be available through your Local Authority to help to pay for a regular break. Please call 0845 603 7630 for a Carers Assessment or call us on 01268 881130 if you would like more information about taking a regular break.
Our carers spend this time going shopping, catching up with children and grandchildren, attending fitness classes, tidying up the garden. They can do all these things and more knowing the person they are caring for is well looked after and happy.
Carers Choices Support Workers recently completed Personal Care Training
On 14th September 2017 our support workers completed their refresher on Dementia Awareness Training. This course helps understand the different types of dementia and the most common symptoms to look out for, to help care for someone with dementia and maintain their health and help them with everyday tasks and issues. This training is very important as it helps us to ensure that our service users are cared for in a safe and professional way to make sure living with dementia is made easier and maintain the person's independence.
The training was carried out by Luan Selby of Selby Care Training.
