Carers Choices is a local charity that has seen recent rapid growth across all areas of our business. To further the support we can offer to carers and those they care for we are currently recruiting to the positions listed below for paid staff and volunteers.

Respite Care Worker - Castle Point area
 
We currently have a vacancy for an experienced care worker in the Castle Point area to join Respite in the Home team. We can offer around 20 hours per week depending on your availability. Evening, weekend and weekday slots available. This is a great opportunity for Care Workers who are looking to work for a company that cares about its staff as much as it does for its clients.

All our visits are a minimum of one hour with many lasting for a whole morning or afternoon so there is no rushing in or out. Your role will be to take the place of a family carer to provide them with respite from their caring responsibilities. Our staff really get to know our clients and their families and feel valued for their contribution in relieving some of the stress family carers face.

Salary starts at £9.00 per hour for staff with a care qualification.  Applicants need to have at least an NVQ Level 2 or the Care Certificate.  Also, applicants need to have a driving licence and a vehicle that can be used for work purposes. Activities Co-ordinator

We are currently recruiting for new staff at our Silver Birch Dementia Day Centres in Southend and Benfleet.

Southend - Full time Monday to Friday
Benfleet - Part time, Wednesdays and Fridays
 
The centres offer a wide range of activities including music, crafts, reminiscence, games, singing and exercises to encourage social interaction in a safe and secure environment.

Hours of Work are 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday. 

Salary: £7.83 - £8.48 per hour, dependent upon experience

Duties include assisting in the following:

  • To encourage Silver Birch clients to engage with stimulating activities including discussing local news topics, arts and crafts, gardening etc.
  • To support Silver Birch clients to lead healthy lives including encouraging them to eat and drink.
  • Contribute to planning future activities
  • Drive company minibus occasionally (to cover Driver's leave etc.) to provide a door to door service to clients.

Cook
We have a vacancy for a lunchtime cook at our Silver Birch Centre in Southend to assist in the following:
• To complete final preparation of a two-course lunch for approx. 12-15 people each day
• Assist with serving meals to clients
• To ensure kitchen is kept clean and tidy adhering to food hygiene standards
 
Hours of Work: 10 per week to be worked on Monday to Friday 12-2pm.

Salary: £8 per hour

Respite Service Care Worker (Southend area) - 20 hours guaranteed 

New position due to services expanding into the Southend area.

All our visits are a minimum of one hour so there is no rushing in or out. Your role will be to take the place of a family carer to provide them with respite from their caring responsibilities. Our staff really get to know our clients and their families and feel valued for their contribution in relieving some of the stress family carers face.  Southend on Sea is a new area for us so to start with you may also be required to undertake some promotional activities such as liaising with GP surgeries and attending events. 

If you've got an NVQ2 in Health and Social Care, Care Certificate (or equivalent) then come and work for us.  We will guarantee to pay 20 hours each week.  It is essential that applicants are able to drive and have access to a car to use for work purposes.

Salary starts at £9.00 per hour for staff with a care qualification. If you don't currently have relevant qualifications but are keen to get involved in Care Work then you can still apply. We will train you to achieve the Care Certificate although the salary offered would be reduced to reflect this.
